I created “Transition to Thrive: Next Gen Launch Pad” because I am the story.
I’m a 56-year-young sickle cell warrior, and I’ve traveled this country—and what
I’ve seen is this: your care shouldn’t depend on your zip code… but it does.
I learned the hard way that when I started to speak the language of healthcare,
understand how the emergency department works, and use the right
guidelines—my care changed. My outcomes changed. My life changed.
So, I decided to stand in the gap—because our young warriors deserve better.
This master class is about one thing:
Giving them the power to advocate, navigate, and not just survive… but
THRIVE!
What Is Transition to Thrive ?
The Transition to Thrive – A Sickle Campaign is a comprehensive program based on over 15 years of SCD advocacy work in emergency care. The campaign was born from the belief that hands-on experiences transferred across generations can form a powerful tool to help future generations improve sickle cell outcomes. The campaign undertakes a community involvement approach where mental health through faith and support, and education and training, are key components to tackling prevalent issues related to the disease, including poor patient experience at emergency care, distrust between the medical sector and SCD community and limited familiarity of the latest SCD treatments.
